8/9- International Day of World Indigenous Peoples
Did you know that Indigenous peoples and communities make up just 5% of the world’s population but protect 81% of the world’s biodiversity? Each year on August 9th, International Day of World Indigenous Peoples recognizes the achievements and contributions that indigenous people make to improve the world, and raises awareness to protect their rights. This year, make a card or collage to help bring attention to this important day!
8/19- World Photography Day
What better time is there to make a PicCollage than on World Photography Day? This August 19th, say “Cheese!” or scroll through your camera roll to highlight a few of your favorite photos! 8/22- Qixi Festival
Qixi Festival – also known as the Double Seventh Festival, or Chinese Valentine’s Day – falls each year on the seventh day of the seventh month on the lunar calendar. It commemorates the mythological love story of the weaver girl and the cowherd, symbolizing the annual reunion of the star-crossed lovers represented by the stars Vega and Altair. Make a card for your love this year by searching “Qixi Festival” in the app.
8/26 – International Dog Day
August is an animal lover’s dream. In addition to Cat Day, we also get to celebrate International Dog Day! Show some puppy love to your four-legged friend by making a collage (or 10) highlighting their cutest photos.
