As Julia Child once said, “A party without cake is just a meeting.” We couldn’t agree more. So in honor of National Cake Decorating Day this October 10, we are giving you your very own frosted cake to decorate. Get insanely creative with us and learn how we dressed up a plain frosted cake using the PicCollage app! Scroll down to see how we did it:

Step 1: Begin by adding stickers on top of your cake.
You can add a variety of toppings. For example, choose among florals, fruits, candies and chocolates, or pile them high all together and create your very own masterpiece. To use the same sticker multiple times, simply double tap, then tap “Duplicate”.

Step 2: Use doodle to add a pop of color to your cake.
If bakers have their piping bags then we at PicCollage, have a doodle brush. Cover the visible part of the top with a quick doodle, tap on it, and tap “Back” to hide it behind the toppings.

Step 3: Decorate your cake with additional toppings from web image.
Make your cake even more marvelous by adding extra sprinkles, nuts or frosting on top. A protip is to add a “png” to whatever word you’re typing (e.g. sprinkles png), so that your images will come up with a clean transparent background!

Step 4: Embellish your cake with more doodles, stickers, and text as you go along.
#protip: Use doodle to create small blue circles (blueberries) by tapping gently on your screen one at a time. Next, adjust your brush to an even smaller size, select the white color, and repeat the process to create an illusion of highlights. This will make your berries look even more real!

Step 5: Congratulations, you did it!
Take a moment to appreciate your masterpiece, and don’t forget to share it with your friends!

BONUS: Since Halloween is coming soon, we also prepared this Falloween-themed cake just for you! Curious how we converted the cake to include multiple tiers with orange buttercream frosting? Scroll down for one last big tip.

#protip: Search for cakes on web image, and select the cake you’d like to use. Double tap on the image, and tap “Cutout” to trim the layers off the cake. You can add/ erase parts of it to make it look cleaner, and once you’re satisfied, wrap the cutout around your cake. To add more tiers, simply duplicate the cutout!

Now that we’ve shown you how we decorated our own cake, we’d also like to see yours! Head over to “Cards” to find the “Cake Decorating Day” category to get started. Don’t forget to showcase your delicious and mind-blowing creations by tagging us at #mypiccollage on Instagram!
Remember, there are actually no rules in decorating a cake. All you need is a big imagination, and a sweet tooth to go along with it!
